Breakfast 7:00am and assemble at the meeting point 8:30 am
Gear check; tripod, batteries, camera, computer, clothing.
Depart the hotel; 9:00 am sharp for Ocho Rios via Falmouth.
Falmouth is located of the main highway 30 km east of Montego Bay. This is not a stop but the guide will briefly explain the Rich 200 year history of a once thriving port of sugar cane.
Arrive at Dunn's River Falls, Ocho Rios – 11:00 am
Dunn's River Falls is one river of eight that cascades down from the mountains towards the sea. Here we will discover how to photograph the area and the motion of water. (Tripod recommend)
The area is very lush and there is great energy in the falls itself.
Tourists from all over the world come here to climb the volcanic rocks with in the falls.
Photo opportunity: to learn your camera settings manually in relation to longer exposures
Depart 11:30 am up into the mountain country of Nine Miles via Fern Gully.
Arrive at Nine Miles 12:30 pm
Nine Miles, a quaint village in the beautiful mountains of St. Ann it was here, on February 6, the legendary 'King of Reggae' was born and it is the very same place where he at rest.
A tour of Nine Miles is a family affair as many of Bob's close relatives live there. The tour takes you through the house Bob lived in, as a young boy and your guide will share insights into Bob Marley's childhood and musical career.
Photo opportunity: document the area as if you were a travel photograph to illustrate a story.
Depart 1:30pm for a trip through the local communities.
We then travel through the hills of our lush garden parish (St. Ann) where you will make a stop the Nyah Binghi Centre to experience our rich indigenous Rastafari Culture and Food.
You will be captivated by what you see and hear.
Photo Opportunity: use a photojournalistic style to photograph locals and small town markets
Depart for Montego Bay via Discovery Bay
Last stop would be Discovery Bay. Rich in history, this area is a tapestry of color and mystique, and has hosted visitors for more than 500 years…
Columbus was the first visitor. In 1494, he sailed into Discovery Bay, hence the name. Its green hills, clear turquoise waters with perfect sand probably lured him. At the other end of the Bay is a open air museum with historical artifacts.
Photo opportunity: to photograph the existing architecture and learn the history of the area.
Depart Discovery Bay 4:00pm
Arrive at the hotel 5:00pm
Dinner at 6:00 pm followed by a photo sharing critique within the tour group(8:00 pm).
This tour is fairly rigorous and some walking/hiking is involved.
Proper clothing and gear is important.
Suggestions:
- backpack or zoom case for photo gear
- sun hat
- hikers or proper sandals
- water, sunscreen, travel insurance
- extra batteries
- -tripod
There are numerous places at the scheduled stops to purchase food and drinks
Class Prices, Reservations & Payment
Prices will cover services specifically described on each tour and lunch, transportation and entry fees to facilities are not included in tours.
